Life is good

Someone asked me today if I had to choose – would I pick money or a work-life balance.
I had a quick answer to that one – definitely work-life balance.

I’m a person who works to live, not necessarily lives to work. Does this mean that I’m a slacker? No, I work hard when I am there, but I also love to play hard too.

If I have learned nothing else in life thus far, it is that life is way too short and we have to enjoy all the time we get. We can’t get that back.

I understand that money certainly helps, but there is definitely more to life than that.

Don’t get me wrong, I do like the things that I have, our house, the vacations that we go on, and the life that we have. And obviously we need money to do these things, but more importantly, we need the time to be able to enjoy them.

If we spend all of our time working with our heads down, closed in offices, staring at computers we would miss those moments.

It is the little moments….the ones that take your breath away.

Moments that take your breath away quote

Moments where the sky looks like this:
Isn't the blue sky amazing!?! This was in Sept. 2010 in my neighborhood

Or the sunset looks like this (in case you haven’t noticed yet, I’m obsessed with great sunsets!):
Sunset taken outside of my house in 2011

Or like this:

So I’m sitting here tonight thinking about the crazy week that I have had. I have to say that it has come to a pretty good end, but even so I’m still glad it’s over!

The craziness of the week just makes me appreciate moments like this more – sitting here with a kitty or two (sometimes 3 but that’s a rare night because 2 of them fight incessantly), my dog at the foot of the couch, comfy sweats, my favorite blanket, the Christmas cookie candle burning, hot chocolate with marshmallows, and my husband.

Life is good.

“WHAT IS A PLAYMAKER?
In sports a playmaker is someone who consistently makes great things happen when their team needs it most. To us a Playmaker is someone who takes action to make great things happen for children at a time when they need it most. You can be a Life is good Playmaker by making a donation, volunteering at our festival, running your own fundraiser, or simply by spreading the word.”

“PLAY CAN HEAL:

Play is the medium through which children explore, learn, connect and joyfully engage with the surrounding world. Life is good Playmakers recognize the power of play to address the epidemic of childhood trauma. We provide training, resources, and support to the adults dedicated to caring for children facing life-threatening challenges.”
