La Isha

So did you take a guess at Friday’s picture?

If you said this hotel -
 - you were right!

It was the Cosmopolitan hotel in sunny Las Vegas.

We just spent last Friday night thru Wednesday there (in Vegas - not this particular hotel) and it was pretty great!

I’m very happy to say that I have been there, seen it, checked out most of the hotels on the strip, had a few decent (but mostly overpriced) meals, and walked away having won just a little bit of cash!

But not quite enough to quit my day job.

Or actually to pay for a full tank of gas for that matter!

But I still won and that’s what is important!

I don’t know if you noticed just how blue the sky was in that picture – if not, you should go and take another look. It was gorgeous!

We obviously don’t mind the heat and with little humidity it was pretty awesome.

It was super sunny the whole time we were there too - and I was there with my sunscreen on and my fake (organic), spray tan!

And we all know how important it is to take care of our skin – especially when it comes to sun care.

The company I’m going to tell you about tonight was started “to create safe yet effective skincare for women 35+ because this is the age when many women first start to develop health issues resulting from an accumulation of toxic chemicals in their bodies that come from years of exposure to dangerous synthetic chemicals in the cosmetics and personal care products we use.” The founder and CEO of La Isha told me that in our correspondence.

While I completely agree with the fact that it is vitally important to take care of our skin, I slightly disagree with it starting at age 35+.

I am a child of fair skin and many sunburns. Many more than I would like to admit. And sadly I have been affected by this mistreatment of my skin already and I’m not at the 35 year age mark yet….I still have a few years to go.

I see so many younger girls that are being affected by tanning beds and sun worshipping that I wish we were all told more about it when we were younger.

It was oh so important to have that wonderful glow for prom that we would all go tanning for months before.

I think girls (and maybe even the guys) need to get more information while they are younger.

But regardless of the age, and my stand point on all of this – I think this is a great company and I don’t think that if you aren’t 35 yet – that should keep you from checking out and trying some of the La Isha products.

The products that La Isha offers cover everything from anti-aging, dry skin, and sun damage to breast health items.

Here is a sampling of what they have to offer:

 About La Isha products:
“Our holistic approach to timeless beauty integrates clinical essential oil therapy, international research on pomegranate seed oil, traditional plant lore, aromatherapy and ayurvedic principles for visually stunning results that support good health. All La Ishá skin care is made on demand from fresh, natural and organic ingredients that safely combat, repair and soothe dry, prematurely aging and sun-damaged skin. The entire line is free of synthetics, fillers, artificial colors, chemical fragrances, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, petroleum derivatives and known cancer-causing agents."

About La Isha’s social responsibility:
Social responsibility is the cornerstone of La Ishá's corporate policy. Because we are committed to being environmentally responsible, we are a member of the Green Business Network, and use recycled shipping materials, no-frills packaging, and containers made of glass and recyclable plastic. We contribute a portion of our proceeds to organizations that embrace, strengthen and promote women’s causes. We are a proud corporate sponsor of The Breast Cancer Fund, a signatory of the World Cancer Declaration sponsored by the UICC for global cancer control, voluntarily follow the safety guidelines suggested by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, and are honored to be listed as an approved skin care product line in the Colorado Breast Cancer Resources Directory (www.breastcancercolorado.org). Our entire line is also PETA/vegan certified, gluten and wheat-free.”

Overall, another great company and I invite you to check out their website for more information. The story about how La Isha was started is pretty amazing.

Sharon – I’m so happy to see that your son is doing so well and that he has been able to recover fully with no reminders of that horrible experience. Thank you for allowing me to tell my readers about your company!

Weekly Wrap-up

Weekly Wrap-up

Happy Sunday!

Hi friends –glad you stopped by again!

Well, as I mentioned, the week started out horribly terrible. And yes, I’m still working on that broken heart thing, but I do know that as time goes on it will get better. I miss Chloe more than I can tell you, but I also realize that she is in a better place now and isn’t hurting.

Enough about that though! Let’s talk about some of the things that helped cheer me up this week!

1) Going out with new friends Friday night for pasta at one of my favorite restaurants – good friends AND pasta!!! That sounds like a win-win in my world!

2) Getting to laugh at insanely funny stories the new friends told us. Anyone know anything about a pregnant girl driving like a wild woman with Ozzy blaring? I do! J

3) Knowing that our Vegas trip is coming up soon! YAY for vacations!

4) Finally being cleared from my doctor from my concussion! YAY!

5) My very tough boss finally complimenting a report that I put together. This day has taken a year and a half to come.

6) Finding out about THIS site. I particularly love this one!

7) Getting kisses from Libby and huge purrs from Miley in the morning and Daisy grinning with all of her teeth – it looks ridiculous, but it’s hysterical.

8) Ending the week with this sign outside of the uni-sex bathroom in my office. Tee hee! J

Kiss My Face

Pinned Image
Really?

That’s what happens when you drink and go swimming /diving?

You kiss fish?

Personally if I were drinking and diving, I would be much more worried about getting sick into my regulator (mouthpiece that you get your air from)

Yes, you are supposed to keep it in your mouth if you get sick…gags me thinking about it.

But otherwise there is a good chance you will take in a bunch of water and then a good chance of drowning – either way I would call that a FAIL!

So don’t drink and dive, or drink and drive – both very BAD!

Okay, again, I digress.

I’m pretty good at that!

Kisses...

Tonight let’s talk about Kiss My Face. http://www.kissmyface.com/

No, I’m not telling you to kiss my face.

Here is a sampling of some of the items that they have:

“At Kiss My Face, we believe that nature creates the best ingredients. We believe it's our job to combine these natural and organic ingredients in body care formulations that are potent and effective to make you look good and feel good.”

I can’t tell you about all of their products because there are so many different choices, scents, items! I would love to, but I think I’ll just let you take a look for yourself.

I already have a list of items that I want to buy!

BUT I’ve vowed to not buy any more body products until I use what I currently have – and I have a problem with stocking up!

I WILL BE BACK! And I will be stocking up.

Let me know what you think of the products if you have tried any of the Kiss My Face items.

To Chloe - Rainbow Bridge

Tonight I am going to share something with you that we have been dealing with for a few months. Our pretty little Chloe baby has passed and I am mostly a mess right now.
For my Chloe Bear - We love you so much baby and always will.
You will be missed immensely until we meet again.
You were the best kitty and we thank you for our wonderful time together.

Rest in Peace baby.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
The Rainbows Bridge Poem
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Happy Easter / Weekly wrap-up

Happy Easter to those of you that celebrate it!

Today was a very nice day spent with my husband’s family (and now mine too)!  We went to his 96 year old grandmother’s house and the woman is amazing! She actually got upset with me for doing the dishes after dinner because “she would have done them after we left”.

Don’t worry Grandma – we were happy to help!

I think I’m a little late – again – on the weekly wrap-up but hopefully the bunch of pictures that I have for you will make up for it. It was a pretty busy week!

1) The weather has still been holding and has been great here, which is pretty amazing in and of itself!

BUT that just means we finally had to break down and cut our dandelion garden grass.

2) My co-worker finished his last week in our department which was pretty sad, but I’m happy for him – he has a new position that is a great opportunity. Now it’s my turn to find something and move on up!

3) I’ve been driving past this place every morning when I drop the hubby off at work and finally broke down and convinced us that we needed some.

Unfortunately these were the only 2 that survived long enough to have their pictures taken, but trust me – you wouldn’t have been disappointed if you saw the other 10! (And no, I did not eat 10 donuts!!! I shared after I took my sampling of about 6 of them. Go ahead and laugh…I thought it was pretty funny!)

4) Oh we went to get pizza with some of our friends on Friday night. There were 5 of us and a 6 month old baby…we had 6 LARGE pizzas. We came home with almost 2 full pizzas that were leftover and there were 2 other boxes that were pretty full too!

Here’s the story – first and foremost you should know that when we get together we have a bit of an issue of ordering WAAAAYYY too much food, but let’s face it, it’s a good time!

The waitress comes out with the first pizza, no problem, the 2nd one she brings out and tells us that they made a mistake, but they have the right one in the oven and it will be right out but to enjoy the mistake – it’s ours to keep. Then they come out with a 3rd, and then the 4th, and she tells us that they made a mistake, but the right one is in the oven and it will be right out (you know the drill).

At this point we are cracking up and have taken over 3 tables.

So we ended up with SIX LARGE pizzas for 5 adults! CRAZY, but man was it good!!!!

5) Have you seen the show BENT? It’s pretty funny. I’m a big fan of mindless sitcoms in case you haven’t gotten that yet!

6) Keeping myself entertained in the car is a good thing for me and the hubby…which is how I ended up with this picture.
Trust me – I’m an awful car buddy – I turn into Donkey from Shrek complete with the mouth popping noises when I get bored…which is usually somewhere around the 1 hour mark. And I’m pretty sure that’s why I get to drive a lot of the time – it keeps me amused and therefore, quiet. J

7) I went to a friend’s baby shower on Saturday – it was beautiful. She looks great! And it was a really nice time. Know what made it just a little bit nicer? Winning this:

BUT since I have very little luck – I only won $7 and 2 free tickets. I still had fun thinking about what I would have done if I would have hit it big.

Now what do I do with my winnings? I’m thinking invest in more tickets and see how that goes. LOL!

And since it’s Easter and I’ve rambled on this long, I am going to save the next product feature for tomorrow – I hope you aren’t too disappointed!

Have a great week everyone and I’ll talk to you soon!

Anthony for Men

*Pic from Wikipedia.com

Anyone see the movie "Diary of a Wimpy Kid"?

I haven't yet - I thought it looked like it could have been cute, but I'm not completely decided on it.

Remember when you used to live at home (or if you still do) and your mom would go through your room to find your diary key?

And then she would sneak to read your diary when you weren’t around.

Hopefully there wasn’t much in there that you didn’t want her to know – you know she found it.

So Mom, since I don’t live at home anymore and I don’t keep a diary, this is the closest that you are going to get! :)

We spent a good part of Sunday afternoon/evening with my family. It was great seeing them, but my mom wasn’t feeling well.

She has been going through some medical issues that we have been working through, and it really puts things in perspective.

I have found that one of the strangest part for me is realizing that there is that sort of role reversal.

You are now the one that is looking out for your parent…and the best way to describe it is weird.

It’s sort of this awe of being a grown up, it is partly the realization that your parents aren’t invincible, it is scary because the whole element of our mortality comes into focus, and most of all you just want to be there and do what is right for them to make them all better.

Today’s company supports something that is close to my heart these days.

Anthony for Men

A portion of the proceeds from their SHAVEWORKS The Cool Fix (which is made for women, but can be used by men) line is be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Anthony for Men - "With the introduction of SHAVEWORKS a percentage of our proceeds from the sale of this brand will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society."
  • Every 4 minutes one person is diagnosed with a blood cancer.
  • An estimated 139,860 people in the United States will be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2009. New cases of leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma account for 9.5 percent of the 1,479,350 new cancer cases diagnosed in the United States this year*.

I’m not sure if any of you have tried (for the guys) or know someone who might have tried any of the products from Anthony for Men but they have some great products!

My hubby has used a few of the different shaving creams that they offer and has been happy with them – and so am I because they smell really good too!

In addition to the SHAVEWORKS The Cool Fix line supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society the following support Prostate Cancer Awareness:

These brands support Prostate Cancer Awareness

“Anthony For Men will support charities that are dedicated to the elimination of Prostate Cancer. Anthony For Men has a special commitment to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center”
